Review by Kathy Parsons
Pianist/composer Peter Calandra's series of single releases continues with "Autumn Nights," a delicate and soothing felted piano piece that beautifully expresses the peaceful transition from one season to the next. The piece is in two movements with a short pause between them. Both reflect the calm of nighttime, but in somewhat different ways. The first movement has a gently-flowing left hand that supports the dreamy right hand melody. Quite a bit of the piece is played in the upper half of the piano keyboard and makes me think of the wonder of a clear dark sky with bursts of starlight as far as you can see. The second movement is similar in tone to the first, but I would call it a variation of the first theme. It's a very beautiful and expressive piece and one of my favorites of Peter's recent single releases.

"Autumn Nights" is available from Amazon, Apple Music/iTunes, and many streaming platforms including Spotify. Very highly recommended!
