Review by Kathy Parsons
"One For AAC" is part of pianist/composer Peter Calandra's continuing series of (mostly) solo piano singles (14 so far!). A tribute to Chick Corea, Calandra improvised the piece after learning Corea had passed away. Very fluent in a number of music genres including jazz, new age, ambient, classical, blues and much more, Calandra's musical language is uniquely his own. "One For AAC" has a very free, improvised feeling that flows from one theme to the next over its almost 7 1/2 minute playing time. Sometimes smooth and relaxed and sometimes much more upbeat and energetic, it's a fascinating piece from start to finish! It begins with a simple, slightly melancholy melody played in the upper octaves of the piano and gradually works its way to the middle of the keyboard. The second theme starts picking up energy and complexity, becoming quite lively in the middle section and then very gradually cooling down and returning to the original theme. I've listened to "One For AAC" six or seven times this morning, and I hear new things each time - great stuff!

"One For AAC" is available from Amazon, Apple Music/iTunes and streaming sites including Spotify. It's definitely a 7 1/2-minute treat!
