"Stately and Kind" is the fifth single from pianist/composer Peter Calandra's upcoming solo piano album, due out in March 2024. I have reviewed all five singles and can't wait to hear (and review!) the full album! Very quiet, spare and meditative at the beginning, "Stately and Kind" seems to relax and get warmer as it evolves. Almost conversational, the middle section is more animated and feels very free and spontaneous before it gradually slows to the end. It's fascinating to hear how Pete lets the theme go in several different directions but is able to maintain continuity throughout - a master of his medium!
