Review by Kathy Parsons
“Faded Gazes” is an original solo piano single by Raffaele Scoccia, an Italian pianist/composer/producer who has called New York home for many years. Performed on a felted piano to soften the impact of the piano hammers hitting the strings and allowing some of the sounds from inside the piano to become part of the music, the emotions expressed are made somewhat more delicate and yet come through clearly and from the heart. Quoting Raffaele:

"Music is poetry. It gives voice to the mysteries of the heart and lifts them from
the particular to the universal. ‘Faded Gazes’ reflects a moment of nostalgia and dreaming,
touched by melancholy, yet felt as an emotional bridge between past and future. What was once
beautiful can happen again. It is not merely a nostalgic dream, but a real possibility.”

Both dreamy and deeply introspective tinged with melancholy, “Faded Gazes” is an exceptionally beautiful piece. It is available to download and stream on Amazon and Apple Music/iTunes as well as on many streaming services including Spotify and Pandora. Both thumbs up for this one!
