“Il Postino” is a beautiful solo piano single from Raffaele Scoccia and is an excerpt from the soundtrack for Il Postino, the film that earned composer Luis Bacalov an Academy Award in 1996.

Quoting Scoccia:
This recording is a heartfelt and grateful tribute to Maestro Luis Bacalov, from whom I had the wonderful opportunity to receive both piano lessons and invaluable lessons in life during my musical training….In order not to alter this emotional richness, I have tried to interpret the piece as faithfully as possible to the original, hoping that the Maestro, from up above, will smile upon me.

Scoccia plays the piece with such grace and tenderness, that I would expect his teacher and mentor to shed a silent tear of thanks and appreciation upon hearing it. I really can’t imagine a more meaningful tribute to a beloved teacher.

“Il Postino” is available to stream and download on Amazon and Apple Music/iTunes as well as on streaming platforms including Spotify and Pandora. YouTube has two versions of the single - one for listening only and a live version of Raffael Scoccia playing the piece. Very highly recommended!
