Review by Kathy Parsons
"Pavane for a Dead Princess" is a beautiful solo piano single by Argentinian pianist, composer, and author Uriel Pascucci. The single serves as a tribute to French composer Maurice Ravel and celebrates the 150th anniversary of his birth. Ravel is considered to be one of the most iconic composers of the 20th century and this is one of his best-loved piano solos. Ravel composed the piece in 1899 and is quoted as describing it as "an evocation of a Pavane that a little princess might, in former times, have danced at the Spanish court." (A "pavane" is a dance form typical of the Renaissance and became extremely popular in the 16th and 17th centuries.)

In addition to his recordings, Uriel Pascucci is an award-winning concert pianist and has performed in and won many international piano competitions. His performances include his interpretations of a wide range of repertoire from Baroque to contemporary music as well as piano transcriptions and his own compositions.

"Pavane for a Dead Princess" can be streamed on sites including Amazon (downloads also available), Pandora and Spotify, but be sure to watch the performance video on YouTube - it's very impressive! I'm really looking forward to hearing more of Uriel Pascucci's music!
