Review by Kathy Parsons
“Virutas” is an original solo piano single by Argentinian pianist, composer and author Uriel Pascucci. The piece was created for the presentation of a book by Raquel Pilar Aznar titled Virutas - El Carpintero del Pueblo that tells the story of the author’s grandfather, a Spanish immigrant in Argentina. In addition to Uriel’s masterful piano performance is the amazing work of two American sound engineers: Jason Ruch at Zero by One Sound Studio who mixed the recording and James Forbes at Vortex Music Productions who mastered it. The style of the music is Spanish, Flamenco Bulerías, which is evocative of the sounds of wood, guitars, and full Andalusian colors. “Virutas” tells quite a story itself with short themes woven together that are sometimes mysterious, adventurous, peaceful, chaotic, poignant and more. Uriel covers a very broad range of emotion in just over four minutes - very impressive, indeed, and the author’s grandfather must have been a complex and fascinating man!

In addition to his recordings, Uriel Pascucci is an award-winning concert pianist and has performed in and won many international piano competitions. His performances include his interpretations of a wide range of repertoire from Baroque to contemporary music as well as piano transcriptions and his own compositions.

“Virutas” can be streamed or downloaded from Amazon and can be streamed from many platforms including Spotify and Pandora. Very impressive!
