"Longing" is from pianist/composer Carol Comune's three-piece solo piano EP called From the Heart (2019). Ms Comune describes the piece as "passionate, sensual and intimate, a composition to soothe the heart and soul." As so often happens, the music arose from the need to express the emotions from a terrible loss - "a yearning for something more and a desperate need for relief from the overwhelming feelings, to be able to move forward."

"Longing" is composed in the key of Bb minor (5 flats) and is five pages long. The music is slow and not difficult to play, so pianists at an upper-intermediate/early-advanced playing level should have no trouble mastering this lovely and very soulful piece (more advanced pianists will also find much to enjoy about this music!). The score is well-spaced and easy to read, and there are no reaches of more than an octave. Expression and dynamics are clearly marked as is much of the pedaling. Carol Comune is a longtime piano teacher (as am I!), and "Longing" would be an excellent teaching and/or recital piece - especially for teens and adults.
