Review by Kathy Parsons
“La Fontana” is the companion sheet music for the latest single released from David Lanz’s upcoming solo piano album due out later this year. Translated as “The Fountain,” the piece has an upbeat, flowing style that is as much fun to play as it is to listen to! There are a few chords and octaves in the score, but it’s mostly made up of flowing single notes on both hands. Transcribed by John Zechiel and proof-read by me, the notation is well-spaced and easy to read. Kristin Amarie is given co-composer credit for “La Fontana,” but it is still in David Lanz’s distinctive composing and playing styles.

My piano students of all ages loved learning to play many of David’s pieces and I would expect that advancing piano students would also thoroughly enjoy this one. I would put “La Fontana” at an upper-intermediate playing level. It is available to download from David Lanz’s website. Very highly recommended!
