Piano Impressions is the companion sheet music collection for James Michael Stevens' 2023 recording by the same name. All eleven pieces from the album are included and were transcribed by the composer himself. It is interesting to note that Dr. Stevens, the Dean of the School of Music at Welch College in Gallatin, TN, has more items available on SheetMusicPlus.com than any other composer from any musical age. He notates the music as he composes it and plays from the sheet music when he records, ensuring that the transcriptions match the recordings as closely as possible. A true romantic at heart, Dr. Stevens' piano music is rarely complicated and is always emotionally expressive. His sheet music is suitable for pianists of any age and would serve well as teaching material, especially for teens and adult piano students. It is also really nice music for more advanced pianists who like to have expressive music that they can just sit down and play without a lot of practice.

The complete songbook is available as a PDF download as are single pieces. The scores are beautifully spaced and very easy to read. Most are in easier key signatures and most of the rhythms are straight-forward and easy to count. Metronome settings are shown at the beginning of each piece, and expression and dynamics are clearly marked. There are no reaches of more than an octave, so pianists with smaller hands should have no trouble reaching any of the chords. All eleven pieces in the collection are fairly slow and smooth, so this is a great songbook to relax with after a long day - or any time, really!
