Review by Kathy Parsons
The Twelvemonth songbook is the companion solo piano sheet music collection for Pam Asberry's 2021 solo piano album by the same name. Transcribed by the composer and proof-read by myself, this sheet music is note-for-note as close to the recording as possible. There is one piece for each month of the year, so there is a lot of variety in the music - something I really like! None of the pieces are difficult, but a few are faster and a little more complicated than others. The music is so expressive and so much fun to play that there is a big pay-off for the time spent practicing and learning to play each piece well. Pam is a longtime piano teacher (so am I!), and all of the music in this collection is very suitable for teaching and for student recitals. All of the pieces are about things everyone can relate to (see the titles below), so they are perfect for helping students to learn to play with expression.

The printed books are spiral-bound with beautiful enlargements of the album artwork on the front and back covers. The book includes a page of brief descriptions about the origins of each piece as well as a dedication to Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel, a table of contents, and an "About Pam" page. The layout of the sheet music is very well-spaced and easy to read, and the music is printed on a bright white paper. Metronome settings and phrasing are marked for each piece. There are no reaches of more than an octave. This is a very beautiful songbook and I highly recommend it! The printed songbooks will start shipping on April 12, 2021 and can be pre-ordered from Pam's site and Bandcamp. Individual pieces are available to download now from Pam's site and SheetMusicPlus.com.
