Dancing on the Wind is the companion sheet music book for Shoshana Michel's solo piano album by the same name. All eleven pieces from the album are included, notated by the artist herself and edited by me (Kathy Parsons). Every effort was made to make the sheet music a match to the recordings, and differences from the recordings are noted. The layout is roomy and easy to read, and metronome markings and appropriate fingering (when needed) are there. A few of the pieces are a bit more difficult than some of the sheet music in the genre, but pianists of an upper-intermediate to early-advanced playing level should have little trouble with this music. Shoshana and I rated each of the pieces on a scale of 1-10, and those ratings are all available on her website (shoshanamusic.com). There are very few reaches of more than an octave, and the dynamics are clearly indicated. This is a really nice book to just sit down and play, as there are a variety of moods and inspirations expressed. Some of the pieces are very light and cheerful and a few are darker and more minor. The book is spiral bound and has full-color covers front and back. The front cover is a enlargement of the beautiful album cover artwork by Olga Kalinichenko. The paper stock is moderately heavy and should wear very well even after years of playing enjoyment. Also included in the book are notes "About the music," "Suggestions for playing," and Shoshana's biography. This is a wonderful sheet music collection for an album that is in line for a number of awards and honors, including Album of the Year for 2016 on Whisperings Solo Piano Radio. I highly recommend it!
