Shoshana Michel's Storyteller songbook is the companion sheet music collection for her 2024 solo piano album by the same name. The songbook includes all thirteen pieces (all originals) from the recording and is available as a printed spiral-bound book, a PDF download of the full book, and/or as individual downloadable pieces. The music was inspired by and reflects different facets of Shoshana's life, as well as her emotions, people she has known and a variety of memories. Some of the music was composed recently and some pieces are older but weren't recorded until this album. Shoshana's music tends to be light, gentle and often has a dreamy feeling, making it easy to relax with as well as fun to play. It is interesting to note that Shoshana does all of her own notation/transcription rather than hiring someone else to write her music out for her, and then I proof-read it, so the sheet music is note-for-note accurate to the recordings.

None of the music is what I would consider to be difficult, and I believe we rated all of the pieces as intermediate and upper-intermediate for Sheet Music Plus. There are no reaches of more than an octave, and most of the timing and rhythms are uncomplicated. The scores are well-spaced and easy to read, making them very suitable for teaching and recital material. The melodies and themes of the pieces will appeal to pianists of any age, and more advanced players will enjoy being able to sit down and play this expressive music without a lot of concentrated practice.
