Review by Kathy Parsons
"Montauk" is part of a continuing series of single releases by pianist/composer Peter Calandra. Peter started releasing at least two singles a month back in the fall of 2021- a tall order for any artist - and the quality has never wavered (it is consistently top notch!). From ambient to blues to jazz to his own creative genres, Peter's music covers a very wide expanse of musical ground. "Montauk" leans more toward solo piano jazz with its lively rhythms and spontaneous spirit. The piece is named for an area on the eastern end of the South Shore of Long Island, New York that is a major tourist destination. The Montauk Lighthouse was the first lighthouse in New York state and is the fourth oldest active lighthouse in the United States. The piece expresses the dynamic energy of the place as well as a sense of freedom and excitement. As always, both thumbs up!

"Montauk" is available from Amazon, Apple Music/iTunes and streaming sites including Spotify.

If you haven't heard yet, Peter will be releasing a full album called The Blue Light on June 16, 2023. I can't wait!
