“The Stillness Between” is the title track from Peter Calandra’s upcoming album. True to its title, the piece is more ambient than many of Peter’s recent releases and features Ralph Farris on violin, Kathy Halvorson on English horn, Kathleen Nester on alto flute and Peter Prosser on cello. The beautiful cover artwork was done by Laura Billings. Peter composed the music, plays all of the other instruments, and mixed the track. The live musicians were engineered by John Kilgore. Incredibly peaceful and soothing, these piece is a perfect antidote to the frantic pace that can take over the holiday season - or any time, really! The shimmering strings make me think of moonlight on snow or light dancing on the surface of a body of water. I’ve reviewed a couple of other singles from Peter’s upcoming album, and all have been excellent. The album will be released in early 2026 - I can’t wait!
