In the Soft Light of Grace is the companion sheet music book to David Nevue’s 2019 solo piano album by the same name. All thirteen pieces from the album are included, transcribed note-for-note to match the recording as closely as possible. Most of the pieces are peaceful and introspective, and the only thing difficult about some of them is the key signature (see below). (Three pieces have five sharps and two have six flats, so if that would be challenging for you, just mark the sharps and flats in the book with a pencil before you play the pieces to make them a little easier.) The music in this collection is very expressive, and while expression and dynamics are indicated very thoroughly, pianists are free to add their own interpretations to the music (or play it exactly as transcribed). Pedaling and metronome settings are indicated where needed. In most cases, the timing and rhythms are not overly complex, so most of this music is not difficult and suitable for pianists and piano students of any age. I have been teaching David Nevue’s music to my piano students for a lot of years and have had very rewarding results! Highly recommended!
