Review by Kathy Parsons
“No Darkness” is the sheet music for Suzanne Herman’s 2026 single release by the same title. Very light and gently optimistic, the music was inspired by an unforgettable trip she took to Antarctica at the time of year when there was no darkness. Much of the piece is played in the upper octaves of the piano keyboard, giving it a very bright feeling while the relaxed tempo just makes you feel good!

Suzanne Herman is a very experienced piano teacher as well as a pianist/composer, and her notation includes fingering in passages that can be a little tricky along with phrasing markings and the metronome setting. Since the tempo is rather slow, I would say that most pianists at an upper-intermediate playing level should be able to master the piece without much difficulty. The piece has several key signature changes from E major (4 sharps) to D major (2 sharps) to F major (1 flat) and back to E major. There are no reaches of more than an octave and I would think the music would appeal to pianists and piano students of pretty much any age.

“No Darkness” is available to download from Suzanne’s website, SheetMusicPlus.com and SheetMusicDirect.com. Highly recommended!
